The team at CodeLaunch brought their one-of-a-kind pitch competition to Canada this week, convening more than 300 members of the country’s startup and tech ecosystem together at the El Mocambo in Toronto.
The main show pitted six teams of innovators against each other in head-to-head showcases of their unique innovation, calling on members of the audience to vote each round’s champions in a bracket-style showcase.
Judging the event were Evan Back and Melanie Grad, who lauded the team at Lodestone with the Judges Choice award for their exciting and compelling showcase of their cutting-edge product management platform.
The night’s biggest winner was the team at Materia Bioworks, who are now officially the first-ever Codelaunch Canada Startup Champions! This win was well-deserved, as Materia’s platform can help scientists, suppliers and stakeholders across the biomaterial space improve and accelerate their product development.
The Boast team had a front row seat, and we had a blast watching all of these innovators take the stage firsthand.
Front-row-seat to game-changing innovation
While meeting new innovators and connecting with partners across the community was a highlight, the best part of the event for the team at Boast was being able to get members of the team from across Eastern Canada and the US together to celebrate.
Before the competition took off, the Boast team had the chance to mingle with some of the founders and developer teams presenting at the show.
From fashion to biomaterials, the roster of competitors proved that Canada is driving innovation across virtually all sectors—and their founders have the passion and energy you need to achieve growth and success across markets.
Boast meet’s Marley from rax
Marley Alles and the rax team stood out from the massive crowd at the event. They’ve created Canada’s peer-to-peer wardrobe rental app and the first app globally to offer long-term rentals on maternity wear, children’s clothes, or short-term rentals.
Driven by their community, lenders list items they are willing to share, and borrowers can enjoy a new look for a fraction of the cost of retail value. This is just one example of just how varied the innovation on display was at CodeLaunch, and a testament to the power of Canada’s tech ecosystem.

We loved connecting with their team and the many other innovators who came out last night for a pitch competition like no other.
